Tritax Big Box Developments eyes more Yorkshire Sites after completion of Doncaster

07/11/2024

Tritax Big Box Developments has completed the last phase of its 721,000 sq ft industrial and logistics scheme in Doncaster, with the land sale of the final 1.2-acre plot to St Paul’s Street (Investments).

The disposal marks the culmination of a 10-year development programme on the 54-acre site, which was delivered over three phases.

Phase one saw the speculative development of a 151,388 sq ft state of the art facility, which was let to fresh dog food company, Butternut Box. This was followed by unit 2, a 430,000 sq ft building which was developed on a design and build basis for B&Q.

In July 2023, Butternut Box expanded its operations by taking the 133,606 sq ft facility on a 20-year lease and as part of the agreement, Tritax Big Box Developments agreed to extend its customer’s current lease on unit one by a further eight years to 20 years.

Simon Dixon, development director at Tritax Big Box Developments, commented: “Having initially identified the site in 2014, we have created a premier business destination, attracting high quality organisations such as B&Q and Butternut Box.

“We would like to thank Bassetlaw District Council for sharing our vision and for its long-term commitment to the site, which has helped to create investment and employment opportunities for the area. We are now actively looking for further development opportunities in Yorkshire and the North East.”

Tritax Big Box’s development programme has a Community Benefit Fund, which makes donations to local projects and groups per square foot of new logistics space delivered. Working directly with Blyth Parish Council, the scheme made contributions to the delivery of a new multi-use games area (MUGA) as well as contributions for works needed to the local cricket club, bowling club, church and memorial hall.

Located on the North Nottinghamshire/South Yorkshire border, Symmetry Park is a distribution and industrial scheme. Full site infrastructure is in place alongside on-site amenities from Starbucks, KFC and McDonalds.

The final plot was sold for an undisclosed sum.
